Kastles Tournament at Conquest

Conquest is an all day gaming experience at KD Games and the Crown and Anchor in Shoreham. Hosted by Gambit Games it will be an extended version of their popular Gambit Sundays.

As part of this event we are pleased to announce that we will be running a special Kastles tournament.

Every player that attends will need to own a copy of this great game to be able to play.

The event will cost £5 to play and will be a one v one format. Players will be paired against each other and have a limited amount of time per round to try and destroy their opponents castle and win the game. After three rounds there will be a chance for the top players to gain ultimate victory in the final showdown. Which will be a multi player format, without a timer, when the last person standing will be crowned our first Kastles Champion.

The will be prizes for the top players and these will be announced next week.

Anyone playing in this event will be able to attend the rest of Conquest at no additional cost.

Book your place at this event now!!!

Conquest Tournament - Gym Leader Challenge

Our first Conquest event will be held at the Crown and Anchor on Sunday 27th August. As part of this event we will be running a special Gym Leader Challenge (GLC) Tournament.

"GLC is a singleton Pokémon Trading Card Game format that is ripe with possibilities and strategies to explore. The rules of Gym Leader Challenge are simple:

  • Only one of each card with the same name per deck (except Basic Energy)
  • No Rule Box cards or ACE SPEC cards
  • Only one type (color) of Pokémon per deck (colourless is a colour choice by itself)
  • Cards printed from Black & White–on
  • No cards on the Ban List
However, mastering the format is no easy task. In GLC, resources are limited, which makes deck building and skillful in-game decisions critical to victory. Gym Leader Challenge is a rewarding gameplay experience that will have you wanting to refine your deck and battle again and again!

Unlike Standard Format, the largest barrier to entry for Gym Leader Challenge isn’t the cost of the deck. In fact, most Gym Leader Challenge decks can be obtained for less money than an Elite Trainer Box! (No, seriously). The biggest barrier to entry for GLC is card knowledge. The legal card pool for GLC includes all cards from 2011’s Black and White through the most recent Pokémon TCG expansions! That’s thousands of cards to consider! "

This tournament will run from 5pm and will last around 3 hours. The matches will be the best of three games played to a 50 minute time limit. The event is expected to last 3 rounds (depending on attendance numbers). Each player will need to bring two legal 60 card GLC decks with them and they will be able to pick which deck to use for every single game but may only be able to use the same deck twice in a single match and a maximum of 5 times in the tournament as a whole (more if an additional round is added due to numbers). The entry to this event will be £5 and every player will get a Pokemon Series 3 Prize Pack just for playing. The winner will get the remaining League Cup Playmat as well. (we didn't have any seniors at our last event, so the prize was held over to this event).

All players that enter this event will be able to attend the rest of the 'Conquest' day at no additional cost.

A new Conquest

Gambit Games has been a tabletop gaming club based in the Brighton area since the late 1980's. During that time they have had many different formats from just a few friends meeting in a back room to play Warhammer to hosting mini conventions in Hove and Shoreham.

Those conventions were called 'Conquest' and although very successful could not continue due to costs and lack of time. Now Conquest is back but this time it is not a mini convention, more an expanded version of the Gambit Sunday format.

Gambit Sunday has moved to Shoreham-by-Sea and is hosted at KD Games (a full listing of event days can be found here). Conquest will be held in a larger venue and will allow the club to host tournaments, demonstrations and themed days as well as allowing a wider audience to see the various games that the club plays.

This first of these 'Conquest Sunday's' will be held on 27th August at the Crown and Anchor in Shoreham-by-Sea (which is located next to KD Games)

The event will start at 12pm and will last until 9pm. (There will also possibly be some additional things being held at KD Games from 9am)

A full list of planned activities for this day will be published soon and the entry costs will depend on what you want to do. If you just want to come along and play some games and learn more about Gambit Games then the cost will be just £5.

Tickets for this event will go on sale in the coming days so, keep an eye on the Gambit Games Facebook Page.

Conquest - End of Year Tournaments

Unfortunately it has been difficult to get a date and venue to run the end of year tournaments for Dice Masters, Magic the Gathering, Star Wars Destiny and Pokemon. Originally I had hope it would be at the end of September. I am still hoping for a date in December but as time is running out it may have to be January. Confirmation of the date and venue should be next week.

Dice Masters

At the end of September we will be running a Dice Masters NEW Modern Age constructed tournament. More details to following in the coming weeks

Conquest '18

Hopefully this event will happen in September and will be somewhere in Shoreham. We are currently looking for locations. The event will be purely a tournament event with tournaments running throughout the day in Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, Cardfight Vanguard, Dice Masters, X-Wing, Hero Clix and Star Wars Destiny. We will let know more about the venue and date once we have it.
