MTG at CONQUEST 2016

CONQUEST is hosting a GPT for Madrid 2016. 

Battle it out for an bye for Madrid. This event is capped at just 32 participants. 

Format: Standard. 
Registration: from 10:30am
Tournament begins: 11:30pm
Ticket Price: £10 pre-reg + £5 entry to CONQUEST (£15 in total, you will need to buy both tickets on EVENTBRITE or contact me for PAYPAL details)
Please be aware it will be more on the day.

There will be Swiss rounds followed by a top 8 (based on attendance).

Prizes:
Prizes are awarded on the swiss portion of the event, so you can win prizes and drop before the top 8 begins. There will be 3 packs entered into the prize pool per player. All prize boosters will be split among the top 8 of the swiss before the cut.

With a 32 player event, the prize structure for the swiss will be
1st 36 packs
2nd 16 packs
3rd 14 packs
4th 12 packs
5th & 6th 10 packs each
7th & 8th 6 packs each

For other numbers of players, the prize pool will be calculated on the day of the event.

Gambit Games End of Year Tournament 2015

The time has finally come to invite players to the KD Games/Gambit Games end of year grand tournament! As we did last year we will be inviting 20 players, allowing that up to 4 can not come, meaning there will still be a minimum of 16! If it goes below 16 then I will invite the next players on the rankings!

Since January we have had a total of 81 players attend one of our events which include prereleases, launch parties, game days, junior competitions and of course KD Magic Nights (Friday Night Magic)! There have been over 72 different events of various formats and types!

Firstly last years champion will get a chance to come back and defend his title,so Michael Pike is the first on the list! Sam Chapman, Simon Wright and David Sanders are the next as they won in previous years.

Our winner from gaming convention 'CONQUEST' which was Mike is already on the list so onto pre-release events

The grand tournament is invite only and anyone that has won an individual pre-release during the year will automatically get an invite, so this adds in the following players:

Nathan Minter, Daniel Bonnett and Aaron Burns Lees!

Also included will be the player who has scored the highest average in all the events they have played in this year (they must have played in at least 5 events) which is Michael Pike with an impressive 8,97! As he is already on the list we moved down the highest average scores to the next player not already invited which will be Chris Sisley at 7.17!

Finally we then add in the top 12 ranked players not including those already selected to take the total to 18 players which are:

Paul Da Vall, Ivan Miles, Elliott Miles, Nick Murphy Cunningham, Faron Young, Bell Benstead, George Lake, Nick Lewis, Marc Le Cras, George Kennedy, Gibby Gumbrell and Piers Kennedy.

All players will receive an invite in the next day or so via facebook and I would ask that you please reply as soon as possible as if you can not attend then I can invite the next players on the list!

The Grand Tournament will be held on Sunday 27th December (as part of our last Gambit Sunday) starting at 10am and finishing at 6pm.

The event will consist of a draft lasting 3 rounds, followed by a break for lunch and then 1 rounds of STANDARD and 2 or MODERN. Entry to the event will cost £13 (£4 for Gambit Games and £9 to cover the Battle for Zendikar draft)

The winner will receive a signed John Avon Playmat...

Battle for Zendikar

This year CONQUEST is on an MTG prerelease weekend, which means that we have a very special event lined up. If you play MTG and not been to a prerelease before then you are really missing out.

It is a chance to get boosters from the new set a week earlier than the release date. With Battle for Zendikar there are some really exciting cards on the way as well.

The prerelease starts at 1pm so there is plenty of time to have a look around the rest of the show and will finish about 5pm which will allow players to take part in the STANDARD tournament that follows.

Magic the Gathering

We will be joined by Simon Wright who will be selling single Magic the Gathering cards.

Simon has an extensive collection of rates from almost any set of MTG and at exceptionally good prices.

MTG Tournament

With only two weeks to go until CONQUEST, I am sure most MTG players are looking forward to the Prerelease of Battle for Zendikar.

The prerelease will certainly be a very exciting event and it is always great to see the new cards but for those who like constructed event there is also the MTG 'Standard' event which starts at 6:30pm (to allow the prerelease to finish first).

It will be much like a Friday Night Magic event but with added prize support. Every player that takes part will add boosters to the prize pool. The winner will of course be our CONQUEST champion but in addition this year will get this great playmat ...

The Magic of Conquest

In September it is CONQUEST and this year there is more Magic than ever before.

Firstly if you book online before the event your entry price will be just £5. That will get you in for a full day of gaming fun. Doors open at 10am and close at 10pm (that's 12 full hours) there will be various traders selling both singles and sealed product. With space to play casual games as well as some Commander which is being organised by our friends at Geek Central.

REMEMBER the first 50 people to pay for CONQUEST tickets will get a free Goodie Bag!

If however you want something more competitive we will be running a STANDARD event in the evening. This event is due to start at 6pm and will cost an additional £5. There will be booster prizes for the top player (amount depends on attendance) and a special CONQUEST playmat for the champion. All that and a chance to claim the title from last years champion Michael Pike. 

Of course you may have realized that CONQUEST is happening on prerelease weekend and we will be hosting a our very own event from 1pm. This will cost an additional £20 and gives players the chance to open and play with cards from 'Battle for Zendikar' a week before release!

This event currently has a maximum of 30 players and if you are one of the first 16 to buy a ticket for this event you will receive a 'buy a box' promo card.

Still want more magic? Then why not come to the FNM event on the Friday before CONQUEST? We have the main hall from 4pm and will be starting at 7pm as normal. In fact it is our normal FNM just somewhere else. The event will be MODERN and as normal will have booster prizes for the winners and of course the FNM promo card for September.

What is different however is that if you have bought a ticket for CONQUEST the FNM event will be completely free! You can of course still come along just for the Friday and this will be the usual price of £3.

So if you want a truly great weekend of MTG you can come to FNM, attend CONQUEST, play in the Prerelease and try and become our touranament champion for just £30. 

Don't forget its Gambit Sunday on the 27th which will give you a chance to play in another Prerelease (details on this later on the KD Games blog) - so your weekend doesn't have to end there!

The Early Bird Catches ...

Well in this case the goody bag. The FIRST 50 people that arrive at Conquest on Saturday will each get a bag with some goodies in from a variety of games...

These bags are only available to people that have prepaid for there tickets, but there are only 50 available so to make sure that you get one you will need to be there early. Remember doors open at 10am!

An evening of MTG?

In the evening at this years CONQUEST players will have the opportunity to take part in a MTG draft.

As it is the weekend of the launch of the brand new set 'Khans of Tarkir' we will be running 8 player drafts with three new boosters for £12 per player. There will be booster prizes for first and second. The drafts wilk take place from 6pm onwards.

With this weekends announcement that the next set to be released after M15 is ...

it means that we are at last in a position to publish more details about the CONQUEST tournament,  it will be hosted by KD Games with thanks going to A&B Games in Worthing ...

The event will consist of upto 4 rounds of best of 3 matches with a time period of 45 minutes. At the end of the rounds the top 4 players will play off for the final positions. The total duration of the event is not expected to exceed 6 hours!

All particants will get a foil Khans of Tarkir launch promotional card!

There will be prizes for the top four players which will be given out on the main stage at CONQUEST! This presentation will follow the event and should take place at about 8:00pm. The prizes will be as follows...

Magic the Gathering Tournament Confirmed!!

There will be an MTG event at this years 'CONQUEST'. It will be the same planeswalker points as an FNM event and will run in the same manner, so 4 rounds of 'swiss' with a winner being the highest placed player at that point!
