KD Games

KD games will not be open next weekend because we will be at CONQEST!!! We will have a selection of products to sell but as the shop is so close if there is anything we have left behind that you want let us know and we will arrange to go and get it.

In addition we will also be demonstrating a couple of really great games. Firstly there is the new Magic the Gathering board game which at just £30 offers really great a value for money...

A great game that's easy to learn and only £30:

It is a really simple game to learn and as it is played to a set number of turns will not take up a whole afternoon.

Next is a game that I am really enjoying which may well have something to do with the subject matter. Firefly the Shiny Dice game is .. well Shiny!

Demos available at Conquest:

This game is for 1-5 players. Yes that's right you can play this one by yourself and try and beat your personal best. All you favorite characters are here and the mission cards bring back some great memories of the series.

Limited Edition

So as you may know Mad Robot Comics will be with us at this years CONQUEST. What you may not know is that they will have a limited edition of Mad House available.

The latest in this series is edition 3 and we will have just 50 copies of this special cover. It really will be a great memento of CONQUEST but if you want one then please get your order in fast.

John Avon Art

John Avon Art

We are delighted to have johavonart with us for CONQUEST. The company is
a partnership between MTG artist John Avon and lifetime science fiction fan
Guy Coulson. Johns work is simply brilliant whether it is on an MTG card,
playmat or hanging on a wall it is bound to impress. The will be in the main hall
in the morning but will move to the MTG hall in the afternoon once the MTG
event starts. They will have a selection of John's art, his new book and maybe even
some signed MTG cards.

When he was around zero years old, John Avon realized that the only thing he was
ever 'really' good at was Art. As a school kid he began painting many surrealistic
images, including a house being filled with toothpaste and a submarine being
attacked by a shrimp... a pattern was emerging!

Having mastered classical oil painting as a teenager, John furthered his education
on graphic design degree in Britain’s most bohemian city, Brighton.

On graduating John embarked upon his by career painting book covers for some of
the world’s most famous authors including Stephen King, Arthur C Clarke, Peter
James, Harry Harrison and Terry Pratchett. After about 5 years he moved over to
acrylics and airbrushing, so his art would arrive at the publishers actually dry! By
chance in 1996 John met one of the art  directors for Magic: the Gathering and that
was the start of a long and beautiful relationship. John’s first painting for Magic was
Purple Mountain.

John lives in Brighton with his wife Patricia and two teenage sons.

Mad Robot Comics

Local comic producer 'Mad Robot Comics' will be with us this year with a very special edition of their 3rd comic in the 'Mad House' series.

They will also have copies of the first two for those that have yet to read it.

Both the writer Matt Hardy and the artist Ed Bentley will be there and I am sure will be happy to talk about their creation or even sign a copy for you.

The Mad Katter

Tophatphoto
We will be joined at CONQUEST by the Mad Katter. She will be with us for the who day to demonstrate games for Esdevium and to sell her range of gaming T-shirts and accessories. More details can be found at ... http://www.themadkatter.co.uk/

Whovian Occasions

Most of us love Dr Who, but some go that little bit further. This is the case the guys behind Whovian Occasions. They have collected some truly wonderful bits of Dr Who memorabilia and props which they are bringing to this years CONQUEST.

From large items such as a TARDIS, Dalek and K9 to smaller items such as masks and costumes there is plenty to have a look at. They will be selling some Dr Who items as well as offering a chance for you to have your picture taken with some of these items.

50% of the money made on the photographs will go to charity so we hope that you decide to get a great memento of your day in Shoreham. Depending on the weather we hope that the Dalek might get a chance to have a look around Shoreham's Artisan Market.

But even if the weather is not good enough both the Imperial Dalek and K9 will be on patrol around the main hall through out the day.

MTG Tournament

With only two weeks to go until CONQUEST, I am sure most MTG players are looking forward to the Prerelease of Battle for Zendikar.

The prerelease will certainly be a very exciting event and it is always great to see the new cards but for those who like constructed event there is also the MTG 'Standard' event which starts at 6:30pm (to allow the prerelease to finish first).

It will be much like a Friday Night Magic event but with added prize support. Every player that takes part will add boosters to the prize pool. The winner will of course be our CONQUEST champion but in addition this year will get this great playmat ...

This is a great piece of artwork by John Avon and what's more it has been signed...

You can see more of his work at ... http://johnavonart.com/
