KD Games

The KD Games stall is ready for tomorrow including the brand new Gambit Games Dice. There are three different sizes to choose from in 6 different colours. Some of you will be lucky enough to get a couple in the goodie bags but I am sure you could do with a couple more.

Colonel Bills

The first of our suppliers arrived on Friday at 4pm. Colonel Bills have got a great range of stock for you to buy. There stand is looking great and they are really nice people, so there really is no reason not to buy something tomorrow.

Ready for Battle

There is still a bit to do in the morning but the battlefields for Bolt Action and Flames of War are ready and waiting for our tournament players...

The quiet before the storm

A big thank you to all our volunteers who gave up there time tonight to help set up the main hall. People have been moving boards and boxes, setting up tables, mopping floor, building stands and getting goodie bags ready. Put simply we could not have done it with out you.

Goodie Bags

The goodie bags are ready to go (they just need the gambit dice added)...

Last year we gave out 50 goodie bags to the first 50 people through the door. This year we are doing something slightly different.

To say thank you to the people that paid early we have decided to reward you with a bag of goodies. We will have a full list of tickets at the entrance and you will get your bag when you enter if your one of the lucky people. These bags will only be available until 1pm...

The Early Payment Bag - for the first 50 that paid.
(Just the dice to be added)

However, we would also like to thank people for getting there early so we have got a further 50 bags ready. If you did not qualify for one of the early payment bags then you will still get something if your among the first to arrive on the day...

Even if you missed out on the early payment
bag you may still get one of these if your
early enough!
Many thanks to Esdevium, Colonel Bills and Warlord Games for there contributions.

Battle for Zendikar

This year CONQUEST is on an MTG prerelease weekend, which means that we have a very special event lined up. If you play MTG and not been to a prerelease before then you are really missing out.

It is a chance to get boosters from the new set a week earlier than the release date. With Battle for Zendikar there are some really exciting cards on the way as well.

The prerelease starts at 1pm so there is plenty of time to have a look around the rest of the show and will finish about 5pm which will allow players to take part in the STANDARD tournament that follows.

If you have not already purchased your ticket then there is still time ...

The Pond Cafe

The cafe will be open on Saturday at 8:30 for stall holders and for people waiting to get in. The main hall will open at 10am. So to help people plan their day her is a list of food that should be available during the event...

Working on Saturday?

So this weekend it is CONQUEST and I like many of you I am really looking forward to it, but what if you have to work on Saturday?

Well we will be reducing the entry price after 4pm which means that it might still be worth popping along. The trade hall should be open to 5pm and there are many tournaments and events that are scheduled for after 6pm, with the last tournaments starting at about 7:30pm.

If you still can not make it at all then why not join us on Sunday for our normal Gambit Gameday. We are at the scout hut in Vale Park which is in Portslade. Doors open at 10am and normally close at 10pm, however we may close a little earlier this weekend depending on attendance.

If you have never attended a Gambit Gameday then your entry fee will free! So even if you have managed to get along on to CONQUEST, if you are new to Gambit you can get another day of gaming for nothing.

Gambit Sunday's are casual gaming events that offer a wide range of tabletop, card games and board games for you to pay. If you want to set a game up simply let us know on Facebook. If your not a member of the Facebook group then send us a request and we will get you added.

Dice Master Rainbow Draft

This weekend we had hoped to run a Dice Masters Rainbow Draft, but unfortunately due to a problem with the delivery we have had to delay the two event until this week. I am hoping to do one tomorrow and one at Conquest (on the Friday)

There will be a Marvel event which will be with boosters from Uncanny Xmen and Age of Ultron (6 of each). The prices for this event will be...

16 Iron Fist dice
16 Iron Fist full art cards
16 Iron Fist no-art cards (blanks)
4 Storm: Wind-Rider for the top four
2 Namor: Atlantean one each for first and second
1 Cable: Time Traveler for the winner

and a DC event which will be with Justice League and War of Light boosters (6 of each). The prizes for this event will be...

16 Batmobile dice
16 Batmobile full art cards
16 Batmobile no-art cards (blanks)
4 Aquaman: Arthur Curry for the top 4
2 Robin: Boy Wonder one each for first and second
1 Joker: Clown Prince of Crime for the winner

How it works:

Each player should come to the event with 8 Sidekick Dice, 12 Basic Action Dice, 4 Indicator Cards, and 2 Basic Action Cards (players may choose which Basic Action Cards they’d like to use after completing the draft, but must use the same two throughout the event).

Each player in the draft sits down with 12 packs of Dice Masters to draft with. A set of six packs is opened. As each player opens their packs they should verify that the cards and dice match. Keeping their cards secret, players should set them aside into a pile of 12 cards. The next six packs are opened and when complete are placed into a separate pile of 12 cards in front of the player (the piles are not to be mixed). All dice are placed into the center, and arranged as below so players can see exactly which dice and how many of each will be available during the draft. We call it Rainbow Draft as players may elect to sort them by color to allow for easier visual spotting of which cards correspond to which dice during the draft.

Each player then takes the deck they most recently prepared and after a short amount of time to review the cards, they select one, setting it face down in front of them, and passing the remaining cards to the player to their right. This card begins a pile of cards that players will be able to use in their team. After all players have selected a card, they take the pile from their left to select their next card and repeat the process until they are passed a single card to be placed into their pile.

After the first stack of 12 cards have been depleted, players should take a moment to review the cards they drafted (each player should have 12 cards at this point). After reviewing their cards, players will return them to a face-down pile in front of them and draft the second pack the same way as they did the first, this time passing in the opposite direction (left).

After drafting all packs, players should take dice from those that were set aside to match each of their cards. They will then construct a tournament team based on the Basic Action Cards they own and the cards they drafted. This tournament team can have up to eight cards and up to 20 dice across those cards (many teams will have less than this). The Basic Action Dice and cards and Sidekick Dice do not count against this limit of eight cards and 20 dice.

Only a few days to go...

Esdevium Games

We are delighted to have a demo team from Esdevium at this years CONQUEST. Esdevium is the biggest distributor of games in the UK and stock a massive range of gaming titles.

They will be demonstrationg the following games for us...

Pandemic

In Pandemic, several virulent diseases have broken out simultaneously all over the world! The players are disease-fighting specialists whose mission is to treat disease hotspots while researching cures for each of four plagues before they get out of hand.

The game board depicts several major population centers on Earth. On each turn, a player can use up to four actions to travel between cities, treat infected populaces, discover a cure, or build a research station. A deck of cards provides the players with these abilities, but sprinkled throughout this deck are Epidemic! cards that accelerate and intensify the diseases' activity. A second, separate deck of cards controls the "normal" spread of the infections.

Taking a unique role within the team, players must plan their strategy to mesh with their specialists' strengths in order to conquer the diseases. For example, the Operations Expert can build research stations which are needed to find cures for the diseases and which allow for greater mobility between cities; the Scientist needs only four cards of a particular disease to cure it instead of the normal five—but the diseases are spreading quickly and time is running out. If one or more diseases spreads beyond recovery or if too much time elapses, the players all lose. If they cure the four diseases, they all win!

Seven Wonders

You are the leader of one of the 7 great cities of the Ancient World. Gather resources, develop commercial routes, and affirm your military supremacy. Build your city and erect an architectural wonder which will transcend future times.

7 Wonders lasts three ages. In each age, players receive seven cards from a particular deck, choose one of those cards, then pass the remainder to an adjacent player. Players reveal their cards simultaneously, paying resources if needed or collecting resources or interacting with other players in various ways. (Players have individual boards with special powers on which to organize their cards, and the boards are double-sided). Each player then chooses another card from the deck they were passed, and the process repeats until players have six cards in play from that age. After three ages, the game ends.

In essence, 7 Wonders is a card development game. Some cards have immediate effects, while others provide bonuses or upgrades later in the game. Some cards provide discounts on future purchases. Some provide military strength to overpower your neighbors and others give nothing but victory points. Each card is played immediately after being drafted, so you'll know which cards your neighbor is receiving and how his choices might affect what you've already built up. Cards are passed left-right-left over the three ages, so you need to keep an eye on the neighbors in both directions.

Munchkin

Go down in the dungeon. Kill everything you meet. Backstab your friends and steal their stuff. Grab the treasure and run. Admit it. You love it.

This award-winning card game, designed by Steve Jackson, captures the essence of the dungeon experience... with none of that stupid roleplaying stuff. You and your friends compete to kill monsters and grab magic items. And what magic items! Don the Horny Helmet and the Boots of Butt-Kicking. Wield the Staff of Napalm... or maybe the Chainsaw of Bloody Dismemberment. Start by slaughtering the Potted Plant and the Drooling Slime, and work your way up to the Plutonium Dragon...

And it's illustrated by John Kovalic! Fast-playing and silly, Munchkin can reduce any roleplaying group to hysteria. And, while they're laughing, you can steal their stuff.

Splendor
Splendor is a game of chip-collecting and card development. Players are merchants of the Renaissance trying to buy gem mines, means of transportation, shops—all in order to acquire the most prestige points. If you're wealthy enough, you might even receive a visit from a noble at some point, which of course will further increase your prestige.

On your turn, you may (1) collect chips (gems), or (2) buy and build a card, or (3) reserve one card. If you collect chips, you take either three different kinds of chips or two chips of the same kind. If you buy a card, you pay its price in chips and add it to your playing area. To reserve a card—in order to make sure you get it, or, why not, your opponents don't get it—you place it in front of you face down for later building; this costs you a round, but you also get gold in the form of a joker chip, which you can use as any gem.

All of the cards you buy increase your wealth as they give you a permanent gem bonus for later buys; some of the cards also give you prestige points. In order to win the game, you must reach 15 prestige points before your opponents do.

and finally...

Dobble

Dobble is a speedy observation game where players race to match the identical symbol between cards. Reliant on a sharp eye and quick reflexes, Dobble creates excitement for children and adults alike while keeping every player involved in the action.

In Dobble, players compete with each other to find the matching symbol between one card and another. Every card is unique and has only one symbol in common with any other in the deck. The match can be difficult to spot as the size and positioning of the symbols can vary on each card. As the game is based on reactions and visual perception, rather than knowledge or strategy, there is no advantage for adults over children, making it the perfect family game.

Suitable for ages 6+ and playable by 2-8 players, Dobble is simple to learn, quick to play but a challenge to master. Dobble's game play and its pocket sized tin make it the ideal party or travel game.

KD Games will have stock of these games to sell on the day, but it is recommended that if you are interested in anything in particular that you send us a message to reserve it.
